Great is Thy Faithfulness

,

Anything can go wrong during a frost where that kind of weather is rare. The waterlines are frozen, the water troughs are iced over, the tractor is cold and doesn’t start up well, and the cattle have ice on their backs. It’s an uncomfortable feeling because some of these cows still haven’t fully recovered from the drought this summer. We also had two new calves born this past weekend, and I can’t help but feel concerned for their new, little bodies staying warm.

These challenges have been expected for a long time now, and all we can do is deal with it when it happens.

Such is life.

There is a cycle of good times and with that comes the expectancy of challenging times. God never promised every day would be sunshine and rainbows. In fact, He told Noah to expect the seasons of change.

While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall not cease. ~Genesis 8:22

Nature in a fallen world takes it course. It’s good to know that, all the while, God is with us through it all. He is ever faithful, ever true.

About Me

My name is Nikki. I’m a suburban transplant who now lives a quiet life where morning light spills over pastures and the scent of cow manure fills the air. Between taking care of the home, tending to animals, and nurturing my garden, I’m learning over and over again to lift my eyes up and let God’s grace take over.

Here, I write about the beauty and ache of the everyday moments and ordinary days, about faith that takes root, and about a Savior who meets us in both the noise and the stillness. My prayers is that each story or reflection will point to Jesus so that you, dear reader, will find Him in the middle of your own everyday and ordinary moments.
